Course Syllabus:
- INTRODUCTION TO EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY: This lesson introduces students to the elements of educational psychology. It also relates as closely as possible the findings of research to classroom practice.
- BECOMING AN EFFECTIVE TEACHER: The skills needed for effective teaching involve more than just expertise in an academic field. You must be able to interact with people and understand a new way of looking at the world. Although there are many different ways to teach effectively, excellent instructors have several qualities, and we will be sharing those in this lesson.
- EFFECTIVE MULTIMEDIA PRESENTATIONS: Whether you are using Powerpoint, Keynote, or other presentation tools, an excellent presentation engages both the left and right sides of the brain. In this lesson, you will be taught seven tips to add flair to your presentation.
- THE DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES IN EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY: How do different people learn? Not everyone agrees. In educational psychology, there are many differing perspectives. This lesson will differentiate between the following psychological perspectives: behavioral, cognitive, developmental, social cognitive, and constructivist.
- UNDERSTANDING LEARNING DISABILITIES: Learning disabilities, or learning disorders, are an umbrella term for a wide variety of learning problems. A learning disability is not a problem with intelligence or motivation. People with learning disabilities aren’t lazy or stupid. Most are just as smart as everyone else. Their brains are simply wired differently. This difference affects how they receive and process information.
- PRACTICE (1): Participants will be given opportunities to practice teaching/presenting.
- PRACTICE (2): Participants will be given opportunities to practice teaching/presenting.
